For Schools & Districts
How quickly can ASP start providing substitute coverage?
Depending on your district's specific requirements and our current pool in your area, we can typically begin providing coverage within 10-14 days of signing a partnership agreement. For urgent situations, we may be able to accommodate faster timelines.
What types of positions do you fill?
We specialize in K-12 substitute teachers for all grade levels and subject areas. We also support paraprofessionals, classroom aides, instructional assistants, and other school support roles as needed by our partner districts.
How do you ensure substitute quality?
Every educator in our pool undergoes comprehensive background checks (including fingerprinting where required), reference verification, credential validation, and orientation training. We also gather feedback from schools to continuously improve our substitute pool.
What are your coverage rates and pricing?
Our fee is a Mark-Up % of substitute pay. No upfront costs or hidden fees. If subs don't work, you don't pay. This rate is based on factors like district size, coverage volume, and specific requirements. We provide clear quotes with no hidden fees. We can give you a rate right over the phone.
How do we request a substitute?
Admins, secretaries, or even teachers (optional) have access to our online portal. ASP's online and mobile tool for teacher absence and substitute requests is user friendly and very efficient. Post an absence in seconds.
What happens if a substitute doesn't meet our expectations?
We take feedback seriously. If a substitute doesn't meet your standards, let us know immediately. We'll address the situation, and that individual will not be assigned to your schools again without resolution.
Do you provide long-term substitute coverage?
Yes! We provide daily coverage for short absences, long-term coverage for extended leaves (maternity, medical, sabbatical), and can support emergency situations. We work with you to match the right substitute for each need.
For Substitute Teachers
What qualifications do I need to become a substitute teacher with ASP?
Requirements vary by state and district, but generally you need at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Many positions prefer or require a bachelor's degree. Teaching credentials or classroom experience are a plus but not always required. We'll help you understand the specific requirements for positions in your area.
How do I apply?
Visit our 'For Substitutes page to complete the online application. You'll provide information about your education, experience, and availability. Our team will review your application and reach out to discuss next steps.
Is there a cost to apply or join ASP?
No—there is no fee to apply or join our substitute pool. We may require you to complete certain background checks or training, but we work to minimize any costs to candidates.
How flexible is the schedule?
Very flexible! You choose which assignments to accept based on your availability. You can work as much or as little as fits your schedule. Some substitutes work daily, others just a few days a month.
How and when do I get paid?
Substitutes are paid on a regular schedule, twice per month. Rates vary by position, district, and qualifications. Payroll is direct deposit and we provide itemized pay statements.
What support do I receive as a substitute?
You'll have access to our team for questions, concerns, and support. We provide orientation materials, ongoing training opportunities, and are always available to help you succeed in the classroom.
